Three From North Idaho Enter Army Basic Training
The following local servicemen recently entered Army basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.
Pvt. Kory J. Vonk, son of Anthony Vonk of St. Maries, and Robin Vonk of Lewiston; Pvt. Robert J. Lindstrom III, son of Robert and Raedel Lindstrom of Post Falls, who was home schooled in Spirit Lake; and Pvt. Douglas M. Combs, a 1993 Post Falls High School graduate who lives in Hayden with his wife, Farrah. He is the son of Connie Combs of Hayden, Idaho.
Air Force Airman Anthony A. Stumpf, son of William and stepson of Carol Stumpf of St. Maries, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
Stumpf is a 1999 Kootenai High School graduate.
Army National Guard Pvt. Dana C. Rand, son of Clint and Sue Rand of Moscow, Idaho, has graduated from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
Rand, a student at Moscow High School, is participating in the split-option program which allows high school students to attend and complete the National Guard or Reserve training program during the summer of their junior year.
The student attends weekend drills during the senior year of high school until graduating and then serves as a member of the guard or reserve and attends advanced individual training to acquire job skills for a military career.
Army National Guard Pvt. Emmett D. Bowlby, son of Clyde Bowlby of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Debbie Bowlby of Spirit Lake, Idaho, has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
