Barrel Room No. 6 back at CdA Cellars

Barrel Room No. 6 has been reunited with the wine barrels at Coeur d’Alene Cellars.

The winery recently closed its tasting room in downtown Coeur d’Alene and moved the signature scarlet bar back to the winemaking facility at 3890 N. Schreiber Way.

“We’re in our 10th year now and I’m still just amazed at the walk-in traffic at the winery,” owner Kimber Gates said.

She said they loved being part of the scene in downtown Coeur d’Alene, but far more people would stop by the small tasting bar at the winery. Gates said they’ll also have more space for alfresco wine drinking and appetizers during the summer.

They’re planning to invite local chefs to come to the winery and make small plates to pair with Coeur d’Alene Cellars wines. A series of summer winery concerts is also in the plans.

Gates said there are now windows at the tasting bar so that visitors can see the winery’s barrel room next door. They’re still serving small plates to pair with the wines including cheese plates, a Mediterranean plate and eggplant caponata. Appetizer prices range from $5 to $15.

Barrel Room No. 6 is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday noon to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday noon to 8 p.m. Gates said they plan to extend the hours this spring. There is live music on Fridays.

The winery offers special pricing on bottles of wine, along with wine flights for tasting. A flight is three pours of wine, 2 ounces each, for $9 to $12.
