The Spokane Velocity had their four-game unbeaten streak snapped in a 2-1 USL League One defeat to Portland Hearts of Pine at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, Maine, on Saturday.

PASCO – Backup catcher Juan Castillo went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and the Spokane Indians topped the Tri-City Dust Devils 7-3 in the second of a six-game High-A Northwest League series at Gesa Field on Wednesday.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Washington State distance standout Evans Kurui finished third in the 10,000-meter run Wednesday in the national semifinals during the NCAA outdoor track and field West First Round at John McDonnell Field to qualify for next month’s NCAA championship race in Eugene, Oregon.

PASCO – Anthony Scull hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning and the Spokane Indians fell to the Tri-City Dust Devils 3-2 in the opener of a High-A Northwest League series at Gesa Stadium on Tuesday.

Three Spokane Zephyr players were awarded All-League First and Second Team honors, the league announced on Tuesday. 

The Spokane Indians’ record of 19-26 isn’t what they want after 45 games. But things may be looking up.

MESA, Ariz. – Top-seeded San Diego State extended the Mountain West Conference baseball tournament, forcing a winner-take-all second game Sunday with a 9-2 win over second-seeded Washington State.

The on-field fireworks from Saturday’s 10-7 game – when the teams combined for five home runs – continued in Sunday’s day game. While there weren’t quite as many long balls, there was still plenty of scoring.

Roynier Hernandez led a productive performance from the Spokane Indians’ lineup, which recorded a season-high 15 hits with four home runs during a 10-7 win over the visiting Vancouver Canadians on Saturday in the fifth game of a High-A Northwest League series at Avista Stadium.
