In a weekend editorial, Opinion Editor Marty Trillhaase of the Lewiston Tribune points out that U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo is over-taking some of Idaho's longest-serving congressionmen, in terms of tenure. Kinetic Fest Wows Crowd 

The daylong fair in Coeur d’Alene celebrated the unconventional and the outlandish creations of inventors and artists, many of which were human-powered machines made from bike parts. Many of the moving sculptures came from the minds of people, young and old, working in the new maker space called Gizmo, in Coeur d’Alene. (5 photos below)

As I sit in my home office typing this post, the wind is picking up and it's raining outside. Sweet summer rain. Sweet relief from the sweltering heat of the last several weeks. I hope the rain doesn't bring lightning strikes to our bone-dry forests. But I'll worry about that later. Now, I'm going to enjoy the rhythm of the falling rain.

Dead Priest Lake Bat Had Rabies 

A dead bat, found along the shore of Priest Lake, has tested positive for rabies, according to the Panhandle Health District. A woman discovered the bat on July 7th while picking up debris and unintentionally handled the bat with her bare hands. Tests by the Idaho State Lab confirmed the bat was infected with rabies.
