Christmas is still three months away, but the meaning of the holiday is never far from Connie Christilaw’s mind.

French bulldogs have descended on Spokane Valley for the week, strutting their stuff and striking a pose in the French Bull Dog Club of America National 2022 dog show that continues through Friday at the Mirabeau Park Hotel.

The city of Spokane’s new homeless shelter on Trent Avenue saw 36 people stay there on its first night, according to the Guardians Foundation, the shelter’s operator.
