Domestic violence victim texts friend for help leading to police arrest

A domestic violence victim texted a friend Sunday afternoon because she couldn't safely call 911. The friend alerted Spokane police and officers were able to find the victim, her mother, and child, take the suspect into custody.

Amber Alert issued for 6-year-old last seen in Rathdrum; 17-year-old also missing

An Amber Alert was issued Thursday for Leo Hiibel-Cloutier, a 6-year-old boy missing since May 31. His brother, 17-year-old, Gene W. “GW” Hiibel also is missing. Police believe the boys’ mother, Mimi Charmayne Hiibel, 35, may be taking the boys to Oklahoma or Nevada. Hiibel recently lost her parental rights to Leo.
