Mark Nye, a longtime Idaho attorney, lawmaker and former president of the Idaho State Bar, has died, according to a news release. He was 76. Nye, a Democrat from Pocatello, would have retired from the Idaho Senate this year, after he chose not to seek a fourth term. Kyle Chapman swore he was a changed man. Chapman, a Boise resident, was addressing a judge while being arraigned in January on a felony charge after allegedly assaulting a Saint Alphonsus health care worker.

All Democrats from Washington voted in favor of the legislation. Rep. Dan Newhouse was the only Washington Republican to vote in favor. Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Jaime Herrera Beutler voted against it. Idaho Republican Russ Fulcher voted against the legislation while Republican Michael Simpson voted in favor.

A jury on Friday found a 32-year-old Priest River, Idaho, man guilty of several felonies related to the December shooting of two men at a Post Falls coffee shop.

The body of a Lewiston man was discovered in the Clearwater River on Friday morning. Rescue teams began their search on Thursday night.

The 2-acre fire was 100% contained late Wednesday night with the use of a combination of excavators, bulldozers and hand tools, according to Johnathan Luhnow, an IDL fire information officer.
