Flurry of snow hits Spokane, ski resorts ahead of dry week

An hourlong band of snow swept across Spokane on Friday starting about 1:30 p.m. Airway Heights saw about an inch stick to the ground, with no accumulation recorded in lower areas. At Airway Heights, “roads were somewhat slushy and wet,” said Robin Fox, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Spokane. She said snow mostly stuck to grass and untouched surfaces.

Season’s first snowfall dusts Spokane, causes car accidents

For about two hours Friday, Spokane had its first taste of winter. National Weather Service meteorologist Rocco Pelatti said the afternoon snowfall caused a few accidents, including a semitruck that jackknifed on Bigelow Gulch Road. Washington State Patrol spokesman Jeff Sevigney said the snow caused a few slide-offs in Spokane County and Coeur d’Alene.
