Campfire May Have Started Fire 

Phil Stephan and Patti Bolstad believe they might have been able to prevent the Cape Horn Fire if they had just acted mere hours earlier. The two were sent to rescue two people whose boat had been swamped by a Lake Pend Oreille storm. Many in Bayview believe that a camp fire in the area of the rescue may have started the Cape Horn Fire.

Air Advisory Issued For Region

Panhandle Health District (PHD) and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) have issued a Wildfire Smoke Advisory for Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai, Shoshone, and Benewah Counties. Wildfire smoke from several fires currently burning in Idaho, Washington, and Canada are impacting air quality.

Fire Slows, Bayview Meeting Tonight 

KHQ reports that the Cape Horn Fire at Bayview had minimal growth over night and is still sitting at 2,000 acres burned. At this point, there is zero containment. There will be a community meeting in Bayview Tuesday night to discuss the progress made in fighting the Cape Horn Fire. The meeting will be at the Bayview Community Center.
