Like many successful character actors, Tim Meadows doesn't get the chance to deliver much standup. Meadows, who was a member of the "Saturday Night Live" cast from 1991-2000, is an in-demand thespian. Meadows, 62, has been a recurring character on the ABC sitcom "The Goldbergs" since 2013.

While touring behind "The Traveler" two years ago, Kenny Wayne Shepherd had to halt road work due to the pandemic. "It was frustrating," Shepherd said. "We were booked all the way through 2020 and through half of 2021, and it was all scrapped. I don't want to complain since everyone's lives were interrupted."

In "Master," Regina Hall plays Gail Bishop, the newly appointed dean of students – or master – at a prestigious Massachusetts college called Ancaster. While Gail is moving into her new home, where the walls are covered with ivy, another initiation is occurring across campus with the arrival of Jasmine Moore (Zoe Renee).

The cheesy aesthetic of late-1970s and early-1980s filmmaking – harnessed, to hugely popular appeal, if not great artistic effect, in "Stranger Things" – is front and center in "X," a sexy meta-slasher flick that uses the look and feel of both the era's horror movies and its adult films to dress up a commonplace saga.

As Leonard, the blandly unassertive Chicago tailor of men's bespoke suits that we first meet in "The Outfit" – or as Leonard himself would put it more modestly, a "cutter" – Mark Rylance does not initially command attention. As the film gets underway, Leonard occupies himself with his craft, single-mindedly.

Inland Northwest Opera’s board of directors announced Monday that Dan Wallace Miller will take over the role of artistic director from Dawn Wolski. Before accepting the role, Miller, who directed INO’s production of “Orpheus and Eurydice” last season, was already engaged to direct the opera’s 2022 season.

Spokane label CorpoRat Records was, until the pandemic, a club made up exclusively of local groups. But since 2020, label owner Kris Martin has been expanding its roster to include the best of the Northwest independent rock scene. That move began with the signing of Missoula-based Trans Future in October.

The two-part documentary series "Phoenix Rising: Limited Series" (2022) follows actress Evan Rachel Wood’s work advocating for survivors of domestic violence. The documentary also shares Wood’s survival story, chronicling the years of physical and psychological abuse she says she suffered at the hands of Marilyn Manson.

I’ve become increasingly annoyed by the ever-slowing trickle of new video game releases. I can appreciate studios delaying their products so they’re not bug-riddled messes at launch, but a cursory glance at game development history reveals hundreds of excellent, timeless titles that took two years or fewer to develop.

Clad in a rainbow-colored, checkered print, Grammy Award-winning singer Lizzo did not hold back Sunday when she was asked about controversial policies in Texas, the state where she grew up. "I'm proud to rep Houston," Lizzo said during a keynote address at the annual South by Southwest festival in Austin.

Written by four-time Tony Award winner Neil Simon, “Plaza Suite” follows a trio of couples as each successively occupies suite 719 at the Plaza Hotel. Over the course of the play, we learn that room 719 is a crucible of sorts, having born witness to the beginnings – and endings – of quite a few marriages.

Samuel Jackson stars as a man suffering from dementia who is offered a radical experimental treatment, and Dominique Fishback is the orphan teenager who becomes his caregiver in “The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey” (TV-MA), a limited series based on the novel by Walter Mosley. 

Written and directed by sisters Misty and Hope Shipman, their new short film “The Handsome Man” tells the story of River, a woman who meets a strange figure known as the Handsome Man on the reservation and invites him home, only to discover that she’s met a trickster spirit.

With the second world war just behind them, Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a British Army nurse, and her husband Frank, an MI6 officer and historian, head to Scotland to celebrate a “second honeymoon” in "Outlander" (2014). But one day, on a walk through the highlands, Claire stumbles through a portal.

The same can be said for Mildred Bailey, a jazz legend who a century ago paved the way for icons such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. There's not even a park bench named after Bailey. However, local musician and filmmaker Garrin Hertel is attempting to pay tribute to the singer who died in 1951 at age 51.
