Steve Harvey’s infamous Miss Universe mistake, Las Vegas Strip car crash were five years ago this week

“Miss Universe 2015 is … Colombia!” Those are five words that TV host, comedian and actor Steve Harvey would probably like to forget. On Dec. 20, 2015, Harvey, as host of the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant, announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner and Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach as the first runner-up live onstage at Planet Hollywood.

Spokane’s Ricky Webster is dual winner in 2020 Real California Pizza Competition

What an autumn it has been for pastry chef turned entrepreneur Ricky Webster of Spokane. Webster opened his first business, the gourmet cheese and artisan bakery Rind and Wheat, in Browne’s Addition in October. Then on Wednesday afternoon, he learned that he won not once but twice in the 2020 Real California Pizza Competition.

Gonzaga Theatre & Dance and Kyle Davis present free, virtual ‘Dance Presents!’

Gonzaga University’s Theatre & Dance Department is presenting its second annual “Dance Presents! Concert” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and the free event, livestreamed from the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center, will feature original choreography by Kyle Davis, principal dancer with Pacific Northwest Ballet, and the Gonzaga Ballet Ensemble.

After introducing McArthur to me last Thursday at Steel Barrel, White credited McArthur for allowing him to share the downtown taproom space with his Zona Blanca.

There is no doubt that Spokane singer-songwriter Liam St. John’s night was made on tonight’s second episode of Season 19 of NBC’s “The Voice.” After performing Marcy Playground’s “Sex & Candy” and pitched by judges and real-life couple Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani afterward to join their team, St. John, 29, chose Stefani.

Chef Michael Wiley to take over Prohibition Gastropub on Oct. 1

Prohibition Gastropub's John Leonetti announced on Prohibition Gastropub's Facebook page on Thursday that chef Michael Wiley will assume ownership and operation of the restaurant on Oct. 1, as Leonetti and his family are moving to Phoenix after operating the business located at 1914 N. Monroe St. for five years.
